How many people are looking at your website from their phones?

Google Analytics is a wonderful thing. It will tell you how many people are visiting your website, where they came from, what time they looked at your website, what your most popular pages are, what part of the world they live and so much more. Oh, and it's FREE!

If you're not really aware of this Google Analytics thing, I'll quickly explain it here.

Today, we are going to look at how to see what device people are using to view your website... oooo creepy stalkery.

First, we have to login to your Google Analytics account. Your account information should be the same as your everything Google account. Go to: www.google.com/analytics/

Once you've logged in click on Audience > Mobile > Overview.

Now you're look at the new report. You should see something like:

Looking at this report, I can see that we've got about 3,100 page views over the past 30 days. Of these views:

  • 73% came from a desktop traffic.
  • 20% came from phones.
  • 7% came from tablets.

Big whoop? So what?

This is marketing super gold for web designers. We can design call to action graphics and buttons with desktop in mind. We don't have to guess the experience visitors are having.

If we back this report up a year, we'll see 12% of traffic was from mobile. So this means more and more of our traffic is coming from people on phones.

Next we can find out what pages these people are looking at with their phones.

You can get all this information for free. As long as you know how to get after it.

We can do this for you if you want to. Give us a call to discuss your analytical options.
